Details

Cunning supported the customer in developing a medical-device prototype into a production-ready Class IIb product and provided the technical leadership and engineering work needed to support the customer in preparing the product for FDA and MDR approval.

Cunning provided hands-on engineering across embedded software, electronics, control systems, production test and hardware-near debugging. Covering these connected areas within one technical workstream allowed issues at the interfaces between software, electronics, mechanics and manufacturing to be resolved directly.

The work included software requirements, architecture, implementation, review and documentation in accordance with IEC 62304 Classes A and C. Cunning designed and analysed PID-based temperature and motor-control functions, developed Embedded Linux device-tree support, and designed and implemented production end-of-line tester hardware and software for repeatable device testing.
