Kitesurf “jump-meter”

Kitesurf “jump-meter”

Details

Designed and developed a consumer electronic product for measuring and analysing kitesurf jumps. The work covered embedded hardware and software, sensor evaluation, signal-processing algorithms and enclosure design.

Evaluated digital pressure sensors and MEMS accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer devices from several manufacturers, then developed algorithms combining motion and pressure data. Handling the measurement chain from sensors through firmware and analysis made it possible to iterate the complete product rather than optimise isolated components.

Technologies

C++17, JavaScript, STM32 ARM Cortex-M0, LPCXpresso, VisualGDB, Octave, Git and Fusion 360. Digital pressure sensors from ST and Bosch; MEMS inertial sensors from Bosch and Fairchild.
